Deaf and Stone Blind

Deaf and Stone Blind

I have heard,
the scream of the beggar,
the pain of despair,
the silence of the fearful,
the cry of the feverish baby,
the justification of wrongdoing,
the rudeness of the exploiter,
& the loudness of the mean,
Either i can hear too much or everybody is deaf.

I have felt,
the slimyness of the sycophant,
the slavishness ofthe populace,
the pain of the throttled,
the vacuum of the used,
& the helplessness of the exploited,
Either i can feel too much or everybody has turned to stone.

I have seen,
the child playing in the dirt,
the bleeding leg of the street urchin,
the mother begging for money,
the rice and salt of the poor,
the pot bellies of the rich,
& the ego of the power misuser,
Either i can see too much or the world is blind.
